Propagating StPaulias from leaf Cuttings
The Easy Way to Grow New Plants
Fresh cuttings are ideal for transportation
Leaves of saintpaulias / African violets easily tolerate being shipped around and staying without water for a few days.
Wash the leaves in tepid water, and let them dry completely. Make a fresh cut on the petiole and put it in water. Put the leaf cuttings out of direct sun, in a bright and warm spot. Plant each leaf in moist potting soil when you see roots forming, and let the little ones grow!
The other method is simply to plant the leaves directly in moist potting soil.
Divide the clump of plantlets (as many as 8 plantlets may form) in any standard African violet planting mix when they are large enough to handle.
